German carrier Lufthansa will restart its popular Oktoberfest service between London Stansted and Munich this autumn, providing direct access to the renowned Bavarian beer celebration.
The airline has scheduled fourteen special services operating from September 19 through October 5, with all flights scheduled to depart at 7.50pm.
This seasonal route returns to meet demand from travellers across London and eastern England looking for convenient access to what has become the globe’s biggest beer festival.
The initial departure on September 19 allows passengers to reach Munich in time for the festival’s opening ceremony the following day. The service will use Airbus A320 aircraft for all 14 journeys, touching down in the Bavarian capital at 10.30pm local time.

The flights will begin on September 19
Festival enthusiasts travelling on the first service can participate in the traditional raising of the Masskrug – the distinctive one-litre beer stein – during Saturday’s opening festivities on September 20.
Football supporters have an additional incentive to visit Munich, with the possibility of witnessing England skipper Harry Kane playing for Bayern Munich when they face Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on September 26. The timing means holidaymakers can enjoy a full weekend break with both the festival and Bundesliga action.
London Stansted’s aviation director, Simon Gorrighan, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lufthansa back to London Stansted to once again offer people from across our region an easy and convenient way to experience the world-famous Oktoberfest in Munich.
“Oktoberfest dates back to 1810 and is considered the largest beer festival in the world, with over six million visitors each year, so we know flights will be in high demand.
“To make sure you share in this fantastic and unique experience, now is the time to take advantage of the great flights and service on offer with Lufthansa and secure your booking with the added benefit of flying from your local airport here at London Stansted.”
Head of regional sales Northern Europe, Lufthansa Group, Silvia Hadolt, added: “We’re delighted to once again partner with London Stansted to offer a seamless connection to Munich just in time for Oktoberfest – a celebration like no other.
“Lufthansa is proud to bring travellers the ease and convenience of flying from their local airport to experience this iconic event.”
The festival takes place at Theresienwiese Park in Munich from September 20 until October 5. Attendees can immerse themselves in Bavarian traditions whilst enjoying regional beers, bratwurst and other local cuisine.
