(LifeSiteNews) — A “regional” abortion facility will shut down, as Planned Parenthood recently announced it is closing its two remaining locations in Louisiana. The two facilities are part of the Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast network, which also announced that it is closing two facilities in Texas. Notably, the facilities are part of the same network caught on video by pro-life journalist David Daleiden selling body parts of premature babies.
“After more than four decades of operation in Louisiana, Planned Parenthood will cease all operations in the state effective September 30, closing its two remaining clinics in Baton Rouge and New Orleans,” WAFB reported.
The news outlet reported “legal, political, and financial pressures from Louisiana officials and lawmakers” led to the closures.
Louisiana Right to Life celebrated the closures and noted the New Orleans facility was meant to be a “regional” hub for killing preborn babies.
“Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry are leaving Louisiana. But the pro-life movement is here to stay. We will always love and serve both mom and baby,” Executive Director Benjamin Clapper stated.
He pointed out that the closures are yet more proof that Planned Parenthood is not a legitimate healthcare organization but rather is dedicated to abortion.
“Today’s announcement is further indication that their priority has always been abortion and their profit margins rather than helping women,” Clapper stated.
“As they leave, we know that women will continue to have access to healthcare in Louisiana, whether for comprehensive needs or when facing an unplanned pregnancy,” Clapper added.
The Louisiana Planned Parenthood locations offered mutilating transgender practices – so-called “gender-affirming care” – and help with out-of-state abortions, according to WDSU6.
Louisiana prohibits nearly all abortions. The state is considered “most restrictive” for abortion, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
Pro-life journalist David Daleiden celebrated the Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast facility closures, which include a Texas location that was the “world’s largest Planned Parenthood clinic,” as described by Catholic News Agency.
Daleiden wrote on X that 10 years ago he released videos showing Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast officials discussing the sale of baby parts.
“Today, that notorious regional franchise announced it is closing all of its remaining clinics,” Daleiden wrote on X.
“Even though Planned Parenthood fought me and my colleagues with vicious retaliatory lawfare for nearly 10 years to cover up half of the most damning undercover footage we ever recorded of the leadership from this abortion mega center—they still lost,” he wrote.
While the closures are a positive step, there will still be 29 Planned Parenthood facilities operated in Texas by other regional organizations, according to Catholic News Agency.
These facilities can still refer clients for dangerous chemical abortion drugs out of Texas, which bans most abortions.
However, there are positive signs that other facilities are closing down, due largely to President Donald Trump’s signing of a budget bill that temporarily defunds abortion vendors. While an activist judge has frozen the measure, Planned Parenthood is still closing down locations across the country in anticipation of losing Medicaid funding.
Professor Michael New, a Catholic writer and scholar, says that 40 Planned Parenthood facility closures have been announced so far in 2025.
Just this week, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio announced staff layoffs. Several Ohio facilities are also slotted to close in the Buckeye State, according to WKYC.
