Canadian church exposes children to LGBT book about wearing ‘hardly anything’ at ‘pride’ parades

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (LifeSiteNews) — Video footage from a recent service at the pro-LGBT Canadian Memorial United Church shows one of the church’s children’s coordinators reading from a graphic picture book, The Rainbow Parade, that attempts to normalize “pride parades” and the fact that many of the participants wear “hardly anything.”

In the minute-long clip from the service (the livestream for which has since been made private), Mary Toth, one of the church’s children’s coordinators, invited all the children in the congregation to sit up front while she read aloud part of the explicit picture book describing how some “pride parade” attendees wore clothes that helped them express themselves, including some that barely wore anything. The Canadian Memorial United Church, whose pastor is openly homosexual, and the entire United Church of Canada (UCC) has become notorious for its promotion of the LGBT agenda.

“The sidewalk outside is filled with people waiting for the parade to start. Everyone is wearing whatever makes them feel most like themselves, even if that means wearing hardly anything at all,” Toth read to the children.

After Toth finished reading the page, she pointed to the illustrations of nearly naked parade attendees in the book for all the children to see before turning the page.

In an earlier part of the clip, Toth read from a page in which the author expresses excitement to see people dressed as “rainbow fairies” on the train en route to the parade.

“The cars start out empty and gray, but slowly, stop by stop, the whole train fills up with rainbows. ‘Do you see those fairies?’ Mama says. ‘I think they’re going to be in the parade,’” she read from the book. “The rainbow fairy winks at me, my eyes grow wide, whoa!”

Toth again pointed to the illustration of this LGBT “rainbow fairy” for each child to see clearly.

Canadian Memorial United Church pastor Jeffrey Rock is engaged to “marry” another man. The same-sex “couple” has an active fundraiser asking for donations to use toward purchasing children via surrogacy.

The church’s website also boasts about being an “Affirming” congregation, meaning the church has made a public covenant to welcome all people into its congregation regardless of “sexual orientation” or “gender identity.”

“Becoming an Affirming congregation was an explicit show of our belief that all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions are part of God’s divine plan and gift of diversity in humanity,” the page states. “It is a public affirmation to let the wider community know that we are a safe place not only for ‘LGBTQ2SIA+’ refugees, immigrants and Canadians, but also for their families, friends and allies to find a place to belong and a home to worship in.”

Indeed, the 100-year-old United Church of Canada has been a champion of the LGBT movement and the Sexual Revolution going back to its promotion of abortion “rights” in the 1970s.

The UCC has since allowed an openly gay, “transgender” female, and even one atheist pastor to lead their congregations. The “Gender, Sexuality, and Orientation” section of its website states, “We affirm that gender and sexuality are gifts of God, and welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.”
