From KTLA,
Feds conduct apparent raid just outside Newsom press conference in downtown Los Angeles.
So much winning, I’m not sure where to start.
Federal agents were in attendance as Gov. Gavin Newsom took to downtown Los Angeles Thursday to promote his redistricting plan…
…Just outside in the Little Tokyo area, however, about 100 federal agents gathered, presumably for another immigration raid.
A star-studded affair,
Mayor Karen Bass spoke with reporters shortly after the visit by federal agents, explaining that “there’s no way this was a coincidence,” as the press conference was widely publicized.
Was it just a coincidence?
Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin disputed that agents were there for Newsom, arguing that “CBP patrols all areas of Los Angeles every day with over 40 teams on the ground to make LA safe.”
Let’s just say it’s a target-rich environment. Bill Melugin of Fox News summarizes the state of play with this post on Twitter (X),
Summary of where we are in LA when it comes to immigration enforcement:
Mayor Bass says the “kidnappings” are politically motivated & that they “must end”.
Feds response to Bass is that she has zero say/jurisdiction over what they do, there is no sanctuary from them, & “we will go even harder in LA”.
Tensions continue to heat back up in a big way.
The Los Angeles Times reports,
The apparent raid Thursday, during which one person was detained, comes amid calls from elected officials for an end to renewed immigration operations across the L.A. area. Federal agents have carried out a string of raids over the past week, arresting several people at car washes and Home Depot stores.
Still, totally worth it.
