Family life is going swimmingly for Boris and Carrie Johnson – and a relaxing beach holiday only adds to their joy. The former Prime Minister was spotted taking a dip in the sea as he, his wife and young children soaked up the sunshine on Euboea, Greece’s second-largest island.
Boris, 61, wore navy blue shorts while swimming in the Aegean, while Carrie sported a striking red swimsuit. It was at least the family’s second holiday of the summer, as last month Carrie posted pictures of her family on the Italian coast. The 37-year-old also shared snaps of their little ones, Wilfred, 5, Romy, 3, Frank, 2, and three-month-old Poppy, enjoying the seaside.
Boris and Carrie, who wed in 2021, welcomed their youngest daughter on May 21, with the mother-of-four describing Poppy as “a final gang member” in a gushing Instagram post.
The former Prime Minister has four other children with his second wife, barrister Marina Wheeler, and has fathered at least one other via an affair, though he has remained famously tight-lipped about his exact number of offspring.
The family also spent time in Texas earlier this year, as well as Saudi Arabia during half-term when Boris was there for work. Earlier this month the former Tory PM visited Taiwan. He delivered a speech in which he compared Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to Taiwan’s situation with China.
He wrote on Instagram afterwards: “Beijing’s intention is clear – to use propaganda and provocations to grind down the Taiwanese and to force them into unification with communist China.”
Since leaving Westminster, Boris has kept himself occupied by returning to journalism, embarking on the public speaking circuit and penning a Sunday Times bestselling memoir.
A return to political life has long been rumoured to be on the cards, however, and the former Tory leader has offered advice on how his party could tackle the growing threat to the Conservative force from Nigel Farage and Reform UK.
Admitting that the then-Brexit party was virtually non-existent in the polls during his time in office, Boris said his strategy would be to “not talk about them”. “Talk about what you’re going to offer the people,” he advised. “I believe that if we focus on the economy and wage full-spectrum warfare on all the things that Starmer is getting wrong, we will triumph.”
