It’s amazing what you can do when you start enforcing the law. That’s what’s happening in our nation’s capital, as we’ve been noting over the past few days. On Saturday morning, we learned that the West Virginia National Guard is joining the effort, even as Congressional and local Democrats predictably – to coin a phrase – act stupidly over the whole thing.
It’s all working. The Trump Crackdown in the District of Columbia has netted 240 goblins and has removed at least 38 illegal firearms from the hands of said goblins. It works.
The Trump administration’s crackdown on violent crime in Washington, D.C., has already netted more than 240 arrests and taken 38 guns off the streets, a White House official told Fox News.
The show of force has swept up gang members, robbery suspects and immigration violators. On Friday alone, 52 people were arrested, including 28 illegal immigrants, while three guns were seized.
Federal teams also cleared 25 homeless encampments, and officials said those removals were carried out without confrontations or arrests.
Now, the real question here is what happens to these people after the arrests; are they being arraigned on federal charges, where they will face U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro? Or wil lthey go into the District’s notorious revolving door system? We can hope it’s the former. The latter is a big part of how Washington got to this bad state in the first place.
Homeless encampments, the District’s notorious Bidenvilles, are being cleaned up as well.
White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller hailed the scale of the operations and said the numbers are “breathtaking.”
“We have seen a record number of violent offenders, bad guys, gang members and all kinds of threats to public safety removed off the streets as well as their illegal weapons that they’ve been using to terrorize the citizens of this city,” Miller told “Fox News Live.”
“Additionally, we have seen over 70 homeless encampments that have scarred and disfigured the public streets of this city, dismantled and thrown away and the homeless cleared from those encampments. At the same time, we have the National Park Service going around and getting rid of the gang graffiti that has been left untouched by this city for decades.”
That’s a pretty good day’s work by any measure.

This is about more than crime, as Mr. Miller so capably notes. It’s about restoring the capital of the greatest nation in human history. It’s about restoring order to that capital city. It’s about decent citizens being able to walk the streets of that city without fear. It’s about being able to have some pride in that city, its buildings, its monuments, and its walkways. And in the case of the Bidenville homeless enclaves, it’s about elementary public health and sanitation, which even the ancient Romans knew more about than the people who allowed these encampments to flourish.
Of course, the city’s liberal “leadership” isn’t happy with this.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser described the federal action as “unsettling and unprecedented,” while Democrats have introduced a joint resolution in an effort to put the brakes on the federal takeover of police.
A-freaking-mazing. They are determined, it seems, to be on the wrong side of every 80-20, 90-10, or even 99-01 issue. To Democrats, I can only say this: Fine, fine. Let us know how that works out for you.
