Media hypocrisy over school funding cuts under Biden, Trump show it’s all about the LGBT agenda

(LifeSiteNews) — The Trump administration has sparked massive outrage after announcing that it will cut funding for the National School Lunch Program, which provides nutritionally balanced lunches for children in schools, over the refusal of some schools to remove LGBT indoctrination from their curriculums.

Just kidding. It was actually the Biden administration that announced that it would be cutting funding for food for kids if the schools those children went to didn’t implement a raft of LGBT policies, including permitting trans-identifying males into female spaces – and the move was lauded as evidence of their commitment to LGBT rights. Poor kids going hungry was, for the Biden administration, a small price to pay.

You likely didn’t even see that story get reported on. But the mainstream press is livid that the Trump administration terminated a grant for a California program on August 21 after the state refused to remove “radical gender ideology” from its curriculum. The Personal Responsibility Education Program is a sex-ed program that educates on contraception, STDs, and other aspects of sexuality. California sacrificed its funding in favor of transgender ideology.

According to Reuters, the grant was worth $12 million. “If you continue to push radical ideology on our children, we will not pay for it anymore,” Andrew Gradison, acting assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, told Fox & Friends. Gradison stated that the department “is near completion of a review of every state’s curriculum, adding that by early next week, nearly 40 states will be notified that they need to change their curriculum or face the same consequences.”

The White House affirmed on August 21 that the Trump administration remains committed to protecting parental rights and “protecting children from indoctrination.” According to the White House: “California’s schools have become hotbeds of woke ideology and have been held hostage by the failed liberal leadership of Gavin Newsom and the teachers’ unions that own the Democrat Party.” Trump had previously stated that California school districts which refuse to comply with federal policy on gender ideology will lose federal funding.

“U.S. schools receive the vast majority of their funding through local and state sources, but do receive some money from the federal government,” Reuters reported. “Trump’s administration sued California in July over its policy allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls’ school sports, alleging it was a violation of federal anti-discrimination laws.” In February, Trump signed an executive order for the removal of federal funding from schools that allow males to compete in female sports.

The backlash to Trump’s move is utterly cynical, and not only because the Biden administration went so far as to threaten the slashing of food funding over LGBT ideology. California Governor Gavin Newsom – who has not yet responded to the announcement – threatened expensive sanctions and fines against any school in the state that refused to implement sweeping LGBT curricula. When parents in Temecula Valley protested the indoctrination of their children in 2023, Newsom told them they faced a $1.5 million fine if they did not reverse their decision. After a fractious board meeting, they did.

The Trump administration is seeking to return the public education system to the norms of scarcely two decades ago, and they have been positively restrained in their efforts compared to the jackboot tactics of Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, and their LGBT activist comrades. That story, of course, is being ignored by the mainstream press – because we are now expected to believe that it has always been this way, and that parents who do not believe in LGBT ideology and the politicians who defend them are actually attacking “norms” and “democracy.”
