Yes, you read that correctly, the number of illegal aliens in America has dropped since Trump resumed office in January. From Pew, complete with all the usual euphemisms,
In 2025, the unauthorized immigrant population has probably started to decline, due in part to increased deportations and reduced protections under the Trump administration.
As of mid-2025, the unauthorized immigrant population likely remains above 2023 levels.
Fox News reported on the Pew report.
There is no doubt that the number illegal immigrants present in America was at an all-time high last year, both in terms of sheer numbers and in terms of population share. But estimates vary widely.
Pew puts the 2023 number at 14 million, with another 2 1/2 million entering through the end of 2024. Another group puts the current figure at almost 19 million. but other estimates come in at even higher levels.
Pew reports that the largest number of illegal immigrants come from Mexico, followed by Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, India, and Venezuela.
