I hope you’re happy | Power Line

From the Dallas affiliate NBC-5,

Dallas rapper Xavier Landum, known professionally as BigXthaPlug, was arrested after being pulled over in Pleasant Grove around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest sheet.

If you bear with me, there is a point to this story. I fully admit to knowing nothing, nada, zip, about current pop culture.

From appearance, Xavier is a very large man, which explains the first half of his rapper handle. I’m told “tha plug” may refer back to his early days as a weed dealer.

There is a local angle. Landum once attended Crown College in Minnesota, but was expelled for dealing weed out of his dorm room. With his higher education and collegiate football ambitions cut short, he turned to the rap game.

The charges from this latest altercation consist of misdemeanor weed and gun possession counts.

Landum, age 27, from Dallas, released his first album in 2023. Both of his albums and several singles have found Billboard success.

He is about to issue his third album, I Hope You’re Happy. From Fox 5,

The artist promoted a planned release party for a new country album, I Hope You’re Happy, on social media, which was to take place at a nightclub near Deep Ellum on Thursday night.

Another party was scheduled at a Dallas-area Wing Stop late Friday night but the restaurant chain told NBC 5, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the event will not take place as planned.”

“A new country album”? Mr. Landum is also known as a record producer, in his own right. He is just the latest to believe it is in his interests as both an artist and an executive to issue a country album. It makes me think that maybe, just maybe, we’re going to make it after all.

But, I could be wrong.
