The sound and the fury

From Rolling Stone,

Tim Walz Doesn’t Mince Words on Trump: ‘These Are Fascist Policies’
The Minnesota governor and former vice presidential candidate laid into the president during DNC’s summer meetings.

Apparently, the national Democrats, with former state chair Ken Martin at the national helm, held a summer meeting at a hotel in downtown Minneapolis.

Given the utter collapse of the state’s largest city into crime and anarchy, here’s hoping the Democrats got a good price.

As the sitting governor of the meeting’s host state, Walz addressed the crowd, telling the audience what he thought they wanted to hear.

Since his failure on the national stage last year, Walz has taken to traveling the nation giving these highly partisan speeches to state and local Democratic party groups.

He appears to suffer from some species of tunnel vision, perhaps literally. He’s keen to soak up the adulation and approval of those sitting directly in front of him. So he throws out terms like “fascism” and spews profanity and insults like a middle schooler.

In the moment, he seems unaware, and later seems genuinely surprised, that media and people outside the meeting hall heard those same sputtering words and saw the same flailing arms. In this instance, his speech was streamed live on C-SPAN.

Now Minnesota must endure another 24-hour news cycle of Walz coverage.

A poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
