The New York Times hails the dawn of a new kind of masculinity–or “masculinity”–that people are “obsessing over” on social media:
Sure, that’s going to work! It sounds like a “performative male” is a slightly updated metrosexual. Pajama Boy, of Obamacare fame, was an early prototype. How do you attract progressive women? With tote bags, Sally Rooney novels, and whatever that furry thing is on the lower right side.
One problem: no one actually wants to attract progressive women. And men who do want to attract women are not going to take advice from the New York Times.
