Ever notice how sometimes you run across a piece of news that makes you do a double-take and ask, “Wait, what?” This is one such; the parents of the accused New York City, ISIS-sympathizing bomb-thrower, Ibrahim Kayumi, are naturalized American citizens, and they own a $2.5 million home in a tony neighborhood in Pennsylvania.
Yes, really. Here, have a look:

The New York Post has some more information.
The parents of one of the alleged ISIS-loving mopes who tried to detonate an IED near Gracie Mansion own a gorgeous, $2.25 million home – a sign they seized the American Dream after arriving from Afghanistan decades ago, The Post has learned.
Alleged bomber Ibrahim Kayumi’s family home is a 5,800-square-foot manse with six bedrooms and five bedrooms in scenic Newtown, Pennsylvania, records show.
Now, a couple of points we should remember: Regardless of what their son is accused of, as of this writing, there’s no implication that his parents were involved. They are American citizens now, and as such are entitled to all the rights and protections that come with that. But that house? That’s curious, to say the least, especially when you look at how they reportedly earn their living.
Kayumi’s parents became naturalized citizens between 2004 and 2009 after leaving war-torn Afghanistan, Fox News reported.
They appear to own a convenience store, records show.
But wait! There’s more! Ibrahim Kayumi’s pal, who was arrested alongside him, is one Emir Balat, whose parents don’t live in quite the luxury of the Kayumis, but they’re doing all right for themselves:
Balat’s parents hailed from Turkey and became naturalized US citizens in 2017, according to Fox News.
Their home is an idyllic 3,200-square-foot, two-story house worth a respectable $653,000, records show.
There’s no indication as to where the Balat family’s income derives.

Now, I can’t be the only one who finds this to be something of a head-scratcher. For one thing, this dispels one of the common leftist attributions for the motives of goblins like this; nobody can claim that poverty and oppression drove them to leave their 2.5 million dollar, palatial family home to try to toss an IED at some New York City denizens. They can’t claim discrimination. If they are indeed guilty of what they are accused of, the only motivation that would seem to come to mind is simple hate and intolerance.
Is it unreasonable to look into the parents’ finances? With all due process, of course, but this sure seems suspicious – a $2.5 million home, paid for with what appears to be, not a chain of convenience stores, but just one? That’s a remarkable success story for a couple who came from one of the most backward countries on the planet (exceeded in that only, perhaps, by Somalia) less than 20 years ago.
If all this is on the up and up, more power to them. That’s the American dream. But does this merit a look? Given the alleged activities of their sons?
The two goblins, Ibrahim Kayumi and Emir Balat, are expected to face federal terrorism charges, which at last report were to be unsealed on Monday. Stay tuned.
