(LifeSiteNews) — During an impassioned speech at the United Nations this week, President Donald Trump called on the countries of the world to protect their borders, uphold free speech, and defend their respective cultures.
“Let us protect religious liberty, including for the most persecuted religion on the planet today – it’s called Christianity,” Trump said. “And let us safeguard our sovereignty and cherish qualities that have made each of our nations so special, incredible, and extraordinary.”

Trump’s 55-minute remarks hit on an array of topics. While touting his efforts to combat inflation, the 47th president of the United States slammed the Biden administration for its economic incompetence while boasting about investment deals he has struck with multiple countries. Trump also laid out his vision for peace in Ukraine and the Middle East while chastising NATO countries for buying Russian oil despite their being at war with Russia via Ukraine, in his view.
“China and India are the primary funders of the ongoing war by continuing to purchase Russian oil. But inexcusably, even NATO countries have not cut off much Russian energy and Russian energy products which, as you know, I found out about two weeks ago and I wasn’t happy. Think of it, they’re funding the war against themselves. Who the hell ever heard of that one?” he asked.
Trump also called on European countries to rid themselves of hostile foreigners while asserting that “America belongs to the American people.”
“I’m the president of the United States, but I worry about Europe. I love Europe. I love the people of Europe, and I hate to see it being devastated by energy and immigration,” he thundered. “I look at London where you have a terrible mayor, a terrible, terrible mayor and it’s been so changed, so changed. Now they want to go to Sharia law, but you’re in a different country, you can’t do that.”
Trump’s remarks were directed at Sir Sadiq Khan, the Muslim mayor of London. Khan has long been derided by conservatives for supporting diversity and multiculturalism. In remarks to the BBC, Khan accused Trump of being “racist” and “Islamophobic.”
Trump’s address to the United Nations was somewhat marred by two incidents. When he arrived with wife Melania, the escalator at the U.N. inexplicably stopped. Also, Trump’s teleprompter went out as he was about start his speech. Trump attacked the U.N. during his comments for its incompetence for both miscues.
🔥 One of the most LEGENDARY lines from President Trump’s speech at the UN
“I ended SEVEN wars … I never even received a phone call from the UN offering to help…”

Trump then returned to the theme of immigration. In his remarks, he identified open borders policies as the “number one political issue of our time,” accusing the U.N. of being complicit in the practice by helping send undocumented persons into the United States.
“The United Nations is funding an assault on Western countries and their borders. In 2024, the U.N. budgeted $372 million in cash assistance to support an estimated 624,000 migrants journeying into the United States. Think of that: the U.N. is supporting people that are illegally coming into the United States, and then we have to get them out. The U.N. also provided food, shelter, transportation, and debit cards to illegal aliens,” he maintained.
Trump closed his speech by reminding his listeners of the greatness of their own lands and encouraging them to deport persons who have entered their countries illegally.
“What makes the world so beautiful is that each country is unique, but to stay this way, every sovereign nation must have the right to control their own borders. You have the right to control your borders, as we do now, and to limit the sheer numbers of migrants entering their countries and paid for by the people of that nation that were there and that built that particular nation at the time. They put their blood, sweat, tears, money into that country, and now they’re being ruined.”
