Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who  courageously served in the Falklands as a helicopter co-pilot, has been completely erased from the Islands.

The fallen royal, previously Prince Andrew, has visited the British overseas territory on multiple occasions to tremendous acclaim and was requested to inaugurate numerous public facilities.

However, following the King’s decision to remove Andrew’s Prince and Duke titles two weeks ago, every commemorative plaque displaying his name has now been taken down.

This development will probably serve as another humiliating setback for Andrew, who came back as a champion from the 1982 war.

Yesterday evening, Kaylee Smith, 33, who was born and raised on the Islands, commented: “Andrew has rightfully been stripped of his titles and plaques – he has brought shame upon his family and the country he once represented.”

‘British forever’

Andrew, 65, travelled back to the Falklands three years following the conflict to inaugurate the £300million Mount Pleasant Airport.

Photographs from a press report at the time display the then-Prince revealing a commemorative tablet in the terminal structure before an enthusiastic gathering.

Thousands attended the occasion, with numerous individuals brandishing signs declaring “British forever.”

Subsequently, he was gifted a silver inscribed chart of the Islands before encountering construction personnel involved in the scheme. However, it has now been revealed that the wall hanging has been taken down.

All ties severed

Airport officials have confirmed that all ties with the former Duke were severed after his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was exposed. The Ministry of Defence, which operates the RAF base, added: “Defence continues to act in line with His Majesty’s intent regarding the process to remove the style, titles and honours of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.”

Andrew made another trip to the Islands in 2002 and inaugurated several more buildings, including a new block at the Infant Junior School in the capital, Stanley. After unveiling a plaque, he toured the facilities with teachers and governors before watching students participate in a ball game.

However, he has now been erased from the school’s history – with a spokesperson confirming this week: “The plaque has been taken down and the Duke of York is no longer connected to our school.”

As patron of the Islands’ Falklands Conservation trust, Andrew later journeyed to New Island to inaugurate an environmental field station and launched an ‘Adopt a Penguin’ scheme. However, a staff member at the wildlife centre informed us: “He was removed as patron and the plaque at the field centre has gone.”

Served with distinction

A commemorative tablet bearing Andrew’s name at the Falklands KEMH Hospital was removed in 2022 following his out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual misconduct when she was 17 years-old. John Birmingham, the Member of Parliament for the territory, stated: “Renovation work is underway, and given that the Prince is retiring from public life, the plaque bearing his name will be given to the Falklands Museum.”

The former prince served with distinction in the Royal Navy for over two decades. During the military conflict with Argentina over the Falkland Islands, he acted as a Sea King helicopter co-pilot, one of his duties being to serve as a decoy for Argentina’s Exocet missiles.

The war, which lasted from April to June 1982, began with an Argentine invasion of the British-held Islands and concluded with the surrender of Argentine forces.

Upon his return from the conflict, he was hailed as a hero and famously greeted by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, at the end of the gangplank in Portsmouth. She presented him with a red rose, which he placed between his teeth.

South Atlantic Medal

He was awarded the South Atlantic Medal, also known as the Falklands Medal, and a rosette – the only honours he has been permitted to retain.

He has since been stripped of his princehood, dukedom, Order of the Garter knighthood, and military titles. His patronage for the Falkland Islands memorial chapel in Reading has also been revoked.

The stripping of plaques he unveiled on the Islands will deliver yet another crushing blow to Andrew.

Last night a source revealed: “Andrew’s connection with the Falklands was his last remaining source of pride. The fact his name has now been stripped from key public buildings there will be truly devastating for him.”

King Charles will strip his younger brother Andrew of his royal titles and long-term residence on the Windsor estate, the palace said on October 30, 2025, the latest fallout to hit the scandal-plagued royal over the Jeffrey Epstein affair. “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the palace said, adding that Charles had begun the formal process to strip the titles from his brother. British prince ‘brought down’

This follows our revelation that north London NHS hospital Chase Farm removed a plaque he unveiled in its entrance hall.

Plaques bearing his name have also been stripped from the Universities of Manchester, Huddersfield and Newcastle.

Following the King’s decision to strip Andrew of his Prince and Duke of York titles, the family of Virginia Giuffre declared she had “brought down a British Prince with her truth and extraordinary courage.”

Andrew denies accusations

Virginia, who took her own life earlier this year, alleged she was introduced to Andrew at Maxwell’s London townhouse and later that evening was coerced into having sex with him.

He vehemently denies ever meeting her.

She also alleged to have had sex with Andrew at Epstein’s New York flat and participated in an “orgy'” on his private island Little St James in the Caribbean.

Andrew faced eviction

Andrew is set to be evicted from Windsor’s Royal Lodge where he resided with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and relocate to Norfolk’s Sandringham estate.

The relocation will be privately funded by Charles.

He also faces the prospect of a private prosecution by anti-monarchy pressure group Republic over allegations of sexual assault, misconduct in a public office and corruption.

His lengthy association with Epstein came to light in 2011, by which point the predator had already received an 18-month jail sentence in 2008 for soliciting a minor for prostitution.

Car-crash BBC interview

However, it was Andrew’s disastrous Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis in 2019 that effectively ended his working Royal duties.

It subsequently transpired that he had sent an email to Epstein in 2011, merely one day after the controversial photograph showing Andrew with his accuser surfaced, declaring they were “in this together” – despite his Newsnight assertions that he had cut all ties.

Documents released earlier this week contain an email from Andrew that Maxwell forwarded through Epstein, reading: “This has nothing to do with me. I can’t take any more of this.”

This comes after fury from British veterans on Friday following a new £10 million Falklands War museum in Argentina that claimed 1,200 UK troops perished – almost five times the actual figure of 255. They branded the Argentinian government’s state-run museum in Patagonia “a pathetic attempt to rewrite history”.
