BC city denies permit for Christian pro-life singer Sean Feucht

ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia (LifeSiteNews) — The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) has issued a warning letter to a British Columbia city for banning a Christian concert.

In an August 6 press release, the JCCF announced that it sent a letter to the city of Abbotsford, warning the city to reverse its decision to deny a permit for a Christian concert featuring Sean Feucht, an American pro-life Christian singer with links to the MAGA movement.

“Abbotsford officials denied a permit on the basis of safety concerns, details of which have not been shared with organizers,” JCCF explained.

The “Let Us Worship Revive in 25” event, scheduled for Sunday, August 24, was part of a national Christian tour featuring musician Sean Feucht. In recent weeks, several of his concerts across Canada have been shut down due to so-called “safety concerns.”

Interestingly, JCCF revealed that the details of the concerns have not been shared with organizers. Furthermore, after months of working with the city of Abbotsford and meeting its rules, organizers were suddenly told they needed “safety letters” from Abbotsford’s police and fire departments.

However, the city further indicated that the police and fire chiefs would not issue these certifications, stating that the potential hazards were beyond their departments’ ability to manage.

“The cancellations of these worship events by government entities across Canada has exposed a grotesque lack of government knowledge and appreciation for Canada’s fundamental freedoms, including those of religion, expression and peaceful assembly,” constitutional lawyer Marty Moore declared.

“Additional legal action is not off the table,” he added.

Feucht responded to the legal warning on X, writing, “While fighting the right to freely worship God in Canada was not on my bingo card this year, I’m BEYOND grateful that God is exposing this evil and good people are PUSHING BACK.”

Following the cancellation of six of his concerts in eastern Ontario, Feucht’s situation went viral on social media, with many pointing to it as modern-day Christian persecution.

MP Michael Barrett stated, “You don’t have to agree with Sean Feucht to be concerned. When the CBC and government censor worship or suppress dissenting beliefs, they violate the freedoms of religion and expression guaranteed in Section 2 of the Charter. That’s deeply illiberal.”

Similarly, MP Bob Zimmer posted a video of Feucht being interrogated by CBC journalists on whether he had a permit to play his songs in a church, along with a quote from the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
