(LifeSiteNews) — The now-defunct U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) sent thousands of virus samples to the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology, the likely source of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
According to an investigative report by The Daily Caller, USAID sent 11,000 virus samples to the Chinese military-linked biolab over the course of 10 years “with no apparent plan for ensuring the samples were not misdirected to bioweapons and remained accessible to the U.S. government.”
Among those samples was “one of the closest known relatives of the COVID virus,” The Daily Caller reported.
The stunning revelation begs the question: Did USAID play a role in what evolved into a catastrophic loss of life and virtual shutdown of western society via the COVID-19 virus?
“Investigations involving USAID’s former funding of global health awards remain active and ongoing,” a senior State Department official told The Daily Caller. “The American people can rest assured knowing that under the Trump administration we will not be funding these controversial programs.”
Despite that assurance moving forward, some are calling for USAID to be held accountable.
“ATTENTION! Another USAID bombshell,” General Mike Flynn wrote on X.
“There must be a criminal investigation into those who ran these operations for many years!” he demanded.
“Fauci needs to be brought back in from whatever hole he is hiding in to answer questions and the last few USAID administrators need to be investigated,” Flynn added.

While progressives have decried the Trump administration’s defunding of USAID as having caused loss of life in foreign countries, others are wondering if USAID has actually caused far more death and economic hardship than lives saved and economic flourishing.
“Everyone touting how many lives USAID has ‘saved’ might want to ledger that against the 20 million dead and $20 trillion lost thanks to the virus USAID helped create—directly or indirectly — at the Wuhan lab,” urged Hans Mahncke, conservative commentator and author of “Swiftboating America.”

“USAID had decades and a near-infinite taxpayer budget to advance American influence, promote economic development worldwide, and allow billions to stand on their own two feet,” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted in a statement last week.
“Beyond creating a globe-spanning NGO industrial complex at taxpayer expense, USAID has little to show since the end of the Cold War,” Rubio continued. “Development objectives have rarely been met, instability has often worsened, and anti-American sentiment has only grown.”
Rutgers University molecular biologist Richard Ebright told The Daily Caller that USAID sample project “should have included contractual terms that required all samples, or at least copies of all samples, be transferred to and stored by a U.S. government facility.”
