Attorney General Pam Bondi isn’t messing around, it appears, as reports Monday afternoon indicate that the Department of Justice is taking evidence regarding the Russia Collusion Hoax to a grand jury.

Fox News’ David Spunt spoke to host Will Cain about the latest developments, noting:
Fox News can confirm that Attorney General Pam Bondi, today, signed an order directing an unnamed U.S. federal prosecutor to take evidence to a grand jury relating to an alleged conspiracy to tie then-2016 candidate Donald Trump to the country of Russia. Now, Fox News reviewed the one-page order, just hours ago signed by the attorney general. A source familiar with the probe confirms this as well. While a DOJ spokesperson declined to comment on this report of an investigation, Fox is told Attorney General Bondi is taking the referrals from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard “very seriously.” The spokesperson says that Bondi believes there is “clear cause for deep concern” and a need for the next steps.
Now, this move, Will, comes just a couple of weeks after the director of national intelligence — you see her right there — Tulsi Gabbard, sent a criminal referral to the Justice Department regarding what she says proves there was a conspiracy to undermine Trump’s candidacy, and later, his first term in office.
Spunt further explained the grand jury process and why, at this stage, there is minimal information available on the whos and wheres and whats of these proceedings.
Now, to be clear today, there are no charges that have been filed, no indictments. This is incredibly early in the process. What we have here is taking evidence the Justice Department believes it has to a grand jury to secure an eventual indictment or indictments. We don’t know exactly where the grand jury will meet. We don’t know who will go before the grand jury — and that’s by design because grand juries determine if there is enough evidence to indict, and grand juries are secretive in the American legal system, so it’s normal not to know all of the answers. Again, the DOJ declining on any comment regarding this investigation, but, Will, big news — this was signed by the attorney general, Pam Bondi, today to take this evidence of an alleged conspiracy to a grand jury with the hope to get an indictment or multiple indictments.
As Spunt rightly notes, this is very early in the process, and we won’t necessarily know a lot more unless/until an indictment (or indictments) are secured and announced. While the conventional wisdom is that “You can indict a ham sandwich,” obviously, there are a lot of unknowns at this stage — namely, who’s likely to be that next ham sandwich. There could be multiple potential targets — and one suspects those potential targets may be experiencing a bit of apprehension as to whether and to what extent they’re in the crosshairs.
So why announce the convening of a grand jury? This is speculation on my part, but my guess is that it’s twofold: 1) to let those anxious to see some accountability (finally) know that serious steps are being taken to that end; and 2) to let those hoping to escape some accountability know that now may be the time to start talking/cooperating.
I’m not going to advise anyone to hold their breath on this. It could be weeks or months before indictments — if any — are handed down. Still, this is a significant development on the Russia collusion front — one RedState will, of course, continue to follow and provide updates on as they become available.
