(LifeSiteNews) — Thirty-year-old Sascha Bailey, the model son of famed British photographer David Bailey, announced the birth of his son on September 7 on Instagram. Just three years ago, Bailey was suffering from gender dysphoria and planning to “transition” to female. If he had, he likely would have destroyed his fertility permanently.
Bailey and his girlfriend Lucy Brown, a former assistant to activist Tommy Brown, named the little boy Wolfgang Robert Bailey. “Wolfgang was going to be my name, but my dad vetoed it,” Bailey told the Daily Mail. “I always wanted it, so now I’m passing it on.” In one Instagram photo of his son, Bailey wrote: “There is literally nothing more important in the world to me anymore.”

In 2022, struggling with profound depression and the failure of his marriage to Japanese lawyer Mimi Nishikawa, Bailey was planning to “change sex” and undergo hormone replacement therapy (HRT). He had gone as far as acquiring a prescription for female hormones after a mere ten-minute consultation with a doctor.
“I felt totally lost. I didn’t want to be alive,” Bailey said. “I convinced myself I must be transgender – that I was living the wrong life in the wrong body. It felt like the only way out. I just stopped and thought: hang on, this isn’t right. This is trauma. I don’t need a new body – I need to understand why I’m in pain.”
It was a question from Brown, along with some blunt questions from his father, that made him change his mind. “What will happen when you start HRT?” Brown asked him. As he described it in his memoir Try to Hit the Pool:
Along with my plans to transition had actually come a fairly healthy lifestyle. I didn’t really drink much nor smoke but as the feeling of wanting to be trans started to fade these habits came back.
Towards the night, Lucy came over everything changed. We spoke for a while about my plans and she mirrored what I was saying back to me.
“What will happen when you start HRT?”
“Well within a few months, I’ll start to grow breasts, my fat will redistribute and I’ll become infertile.”
She started repeating my points back to me and I started laughing.
As Bailey told the Daily Mail: “Lucy saved my life. She helped me feel grounded again. Like I wasn’t broken.” Since describing his plan to transition – and last-minute decision to not go through with it – he has been contacted by “dozens” of detransitioners who underwent the “treatments,” were badly damaged as a result, and are now ignored by the healthcare system that was so eager to facilitate their transition.
“So many of them regret it,” Bailey said. “But the system doesn’t want to hear from them – they’re treated like they’re an inconvenience.” If his son every came out as “trans,” he added, he would “be very against it, obviously. You can’t get a tattoo. You can’t change your gender. It’s really as simple as that. Kids have no control over their life. So we look after them.”
Heartbreaking questions and stories from those who have begun the “transition” process emphasize what Bailey might have faced if he had gone through with HRT. One poster, who had undergone castration, asked desperately when his new synthetic genitalia would start to function like a normal organ.

Another poster described himself as a “post op trans woman” who cannot get his pre-op genitalia back, but is now “stuck like this” and “looking for any advice because this has me very often passively suicidal.” The young man noted that the surgery has mutilated him so badly that he cannot have physical feelings. He may not have fully realized it yet, but that will be true for the rest of his life. The “transition” procedures have destroyed him, because he was lied to – and he believed those who were lying to him. This is the fate Bailey narrowly escaped, but that so many other young people have plunged into. There will be no second chances or children for many of them.
There should be lengthy prison sentences for those who perpetrated these crimes.
