Good news from eastern New York, from the New York Post,
1,600 illegal migrants — including MS-13 members and international fugitives — busted on Long Island this year.
The Post makes clear that all 1,600 nabbed had prior convictions. It’s amazing what can happen with a just a little local cooperation. The Post reports,
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman had struck a deal in February that set aside 50 county jail cells for immigration detainees, a move that has so far funneled more than 1,400 immigrants picked up from all over the New York City area through the facility in just months.
In addition,
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman signed an agreement with the feds to deputize 10 local detectives into ICE to help arrest and jail illegal immigrants.
This being New York, there is an upcoming election in November. Blakeman’s Democratic opponent vows that he will end the County’s cooperation with ICE, if elected.
Time is of the essence.
