Candace Owens says Trump told her to stop talking about Brigitte Macron

(LifeSiteNews) — Candace Owens claimed on Monday that she was personally asked by US President Donald Trump to stop speaking about French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte, whom Owens has previously said is a man, after being told that Macron brought up the subject while discussing Russia-Ukraine peace talks.

On a livestream of her “Candace” podcast yesterday, Owens recounted how on February 24, a friend told her that someone “very high up” at the White House was requesting that she stop speaking about Brigitte Macron, whom she has provided extensive research on for her “Becoming Brigitte” series.

Owens says she initially declined the request, insisting on her right to “free speech.” When she reportedly called the friend back to discuss the matter further, she was told that Macron was “holding up negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war” until Owens stopped talking about the matter.

Earlier this year, Owens said she received a “strongly worded” letter from a law firm representing Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron that essentially acted as a “legal threat.” The letter purportedly said that, “Mrs. Macron does not owe you proof that she is, and always has been, a woman.”

Owens said she noticed just before receiving a call from her friend on February 24 that Macron was in Washington D.C. that day, and had departed from the White House only hours before.

Owens told her friend she would think and pray about the request. She also reportedly told her husband at the time that “no one will ever believe” what has just happened.

Not long after that, Owens said she received a call from a staffer at the White House who told her she should “just do what the president says” regarding Brigitte. She was put off by what she described as the staffer’s “pompous” attitude. “He could not have been … more arrogant,” she said of the caller.

Owens then said she decided to contact Tucker Carlson for advice, essentially telling him, “The truth just matters at the end of the day, but also if I could end the Ukrainian-Russia war, I would do it.”

According to Owens, Carlson advised her, “You don’t want the bloodshed of Christians on your conscience, but also free speech does matter. You should say you’ll do it, ‘until…’ but at some point you need to inform people what happened.”

Owens says she then received a phone call from President Trump himself. She said he immediately dove right into the matter, telling her, “I’m negotiating … this person wants this and this person wants this … and you have no idea how much is involved when you’re trying to get one of these deals done.”

According to Owens, Trump went on to tell her about how, as he walked Macron to his car during his recent visit to the White House, the French president asked Trump if he was familiar with Owens, and then he requested that Owens “stop speaking about” his “wife.”

Trump apparently told tell Owens on their phone call that Brigitte is “old, this is really, really impacting her,” before adding, “I saw her up close and she looks like a woman to me.”

Owens allegedly explained to Trump that Brigitte’s appearance is due to having an “amazing doctor” that specializes in transgender surgeries. Owens also reportedly expressed to him that she didn’t “feel so great about the request,” respectfully insisting that it was not her “fault” that Macron married a man.

Trump reportedly replied, “We’re really close to getting this thing done,” referencing the Ukraine-Russia peace negotiations. “Macron’s been really easy to work with.”

Owens said that while Trump did not specifically tell her that Macron had threatened to thwart peace negotiations, he did tell her he and Macron were discussing the Russia-Ukraine war “all day” and that he was trying to negotiate a peace agreement.

Owens reportedly told Trump she was willing to stop talking about Brigitte, who Owens believes was born Jean-Michel Trogneux, in the short-term, but made clear that she fully expected that in a few months she would be able to speak about Brigitte again. Trump supposedly initially appeared open to that compromise, but then insisted that he needed to be able to work with Macron “long term.” Thus, the call allegedly ended at an impasse.

Commenting on her supposed interaction with Trump, Owens doubled down on her podcast by calling for Emmanuel Macron to “step down” as President of France.

“There is no greater example of the lack of morality a leader can have” than to threaten to hold up peace negotiations and “let people die” until a podcaster stops speaking about his “wife,” she said.

“They are terrified. Because obviously everything I’ve uncovered is true. Fiction would not make you do that,” Owens continued.

Owens said she believes the reaction her comments have caused is not merely in response to her efforts to report on Brigitte possibly being a male, but rather that it involves a “deeply sinister” web of events involving a worldwide network of persons.

Owens believes someone more powerful than the Macrons is behind the request that she stop speaking about the couple. She suggested that there is a pedophile cult in power — not necessarily confined to one country, but which does exist in France — which Owens believes explains the backlash against narratives she has discussed on her podcast.
