Chinese car giant BYD set for UK launch of luxury Denza brand to challenge Porsche and Ferrari

Major Chinese manufacturer BYD could make further headway across the global market with the launch of its premium Denza brand.

Denza officially launched in Europe at Milan Design Week at the start of April, with BYD stating that the brand is a “vision of future mobility” which aims to blend intelligent technology and art.

Denza will act as a standalone premium luxury brand, with BYD UK Country Manager Bono Ge saying further details and glimpses of new vehicles being released in the coming months.

Its formation saw Denza created as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, although the brand is now solely owned by the Chinese manufacturing giant.

Upcoming Denza vehicles will have slightly different technology compared to other BYD models, namely the E3 platform.

This contains three individual motors, with one main driving motor to allow compass turning meaning the vehicle can turn from the tail.

Speaking at Everything Electric London, Ge explained that it would help for the “challenging” parking spaces in London, as well as the UK’s countless narrow streets.

BYD currently has five models on the market in the UK and eight more in Europe, many of which are equipped with left-hand drive to cater to millions of drivers.

The Denza Z Concept Sports Car was debuted at Auto Shanghai 2025, which was created to “deliver peak levels of performance, technology and driver enjoyment”.

BYD described the Denza Z Concept Sports as “redefining performance with a fusion of pure design and advanced innovation”.

It is expected that the luxury offerings from Denza will go on to compete with high-end premium manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren and more.
