Christian couple arrested, jailed after sharing Gospel truths at LGBTQ ‘Pride’ parade

(LifeSiteNews) — A Christian street preacher and his wife were jailed on Saturday after demonstrating against an LGBTQ Pride parade in Orlando, Florida.

Maurice Price was pinned to the ground and handcuffed by several policemen, video footage posted to his Facebook page and YouTube channel shows, after he walked the street of an LGBTQ parade holding up a sign that read “Hell is real. Only Jesus Saves.” His wife, Brittany, who joined him in the street while holding up a sign that said “Repent or perish,” was also arrested.

The back of Brittany’s sign read “Jesus is God,” “There are only 2 genders,” and “Jesus is the only way.

A montage of video clips shows the couple walking along the sidewalk near the parade with their signs as well as out in the street close to the parade and then hugging the sidewalk. Maurice confronted the driver of a truck representing the First Unitarian Church of Orlando, decked out with rainbow flags and a sign that says “love is love.”

At one point, it can be seen that while the couple is out in the street within car lane lines, other parade-watchers are as well.

At another point, a police officer can be heard telling them that they are “walking inside the parade lines” and instructing them to “stay on the sidewalk.” Brittany replied, “Alright.”

The moments before the couple’s arrest are not shown in posted footage. Maurice said in a FlashPoint interview that their arresting police officer told them “something completely different” than the first officer, saying they could not be “in the street at all.”

They took me down aggressively,” said Maurice, confirming that his knee was scraped when the officers took him down.

Brittany wrote on her own Facebook page that the arresting officers “mocked” them and said they were “blocking the parade.” She denied this, calling it “lies.”

The couple was jailed for about six hours and then released, Maurice told FlashPoint. He added that they were locked up long enough to keep them from returning to the parade to preach.

LifeSiteNews attempted to contact the Prices for comment but had not heard back as of publishing.

The Prices, who are born-again Christians, regularly seek to evangelize with those who promote serious sin, including abortion, and especially homosexuality and transgenderism. They confront LGBTQ-affirming so-called “Christian” pastors and congregations, often with rebukes. They also aim to convert non-Christians such as Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons.

When speaking with people one-on-one, Maurice often calmly engages people by sharing Scripture and asking questions. He firmly calls out sin, however, when it is promoted.

“You’re leading people to hell,” Maurice said while rebuking one such recent gathering of pro-LGBT “Christians” that included a woman wearing a clerical collar with a rainbow tie-dye shirt over it.

“In John 1:14 it says the Word became flesh,” he said while preaching through a megaphone at another LGBTQ pride event. “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m glad that God didn’t take a survey and ask us, ‘What do you want?”

“God knew that we didn’t know how to solve man’s condition. The condition of man is sin. The condition of man is a hardened heart. The condition of man is rebellion against God.”

“He said I know what my people need. They need a Savior to save them from their sins. Because their heart has gotten so hard and their mind has gotten so reprobate that they have put me on the back burner. They have gone their own way. They have gone so far astray … that we openly promote pride, we openly promote lust, we openly promote sexual perversion.”
