The angel roof at All Saints’, Leighton Buzzard, was donated by Alice de la Pole, Duchess of Suffolk, who was the granddaughter of Chaucer; and its carved angels were included in the church refurbishment after the serious fire in 1985, writes John Jackson in his Churches of Bedfordshire, with about 100 colour photos and descriptions, church by church (Amberley, £15.99 (£14.40); 978-1-3981-1821-8)
