The answer to the question “How can you tell when a Democrat is lying?” is an easy one to answer: When their lips are moving. That has definitely been the case as talk has turned in recent weeks to former President Joe Biden’s decline during his time in office and what reporters and Democrats knew and when they knew it.
We’ve documented several instances of Democrats pathetically dodging and weaving, with powerful House Democrat James Clyburn (D-SC) telling CNN in an late April interview that he “wasn’t around Biden enough” to notice any cognitive issues, even though Clyburn has been one of Biden’s closest political allies for years, and even was a 2024 reelection campaign co-chair.
Another one who refuses to give a straight, truthful answer is Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who is robotically telling reporters who ask him about Biden that “we’re just looking forward.”

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, too, was a co-chair of Biden’s brief reelection campaign, presenting herself as one of his biggest cheerleaders and even defending him after his disastrous June 2024 presidential debate against then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, suggesting that Biden was fit for another four years in office even though it was very clear that he was not:

But when asked on CNN Thursday about the new book on Biden’s decline by CNNer Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson, Whitmer pretended she hadn’t been around Biden that much and couldn’t speak to any issues – though she implied that some of the things she’s been hearing lately has her questioning what she “thought she knew” about Biden:
WHITMER: You know, I have not read the book. I can tell you this, that if, as the book reports, Cabinet members didn’t have access, that tells you that, as a governor in a state halfway across the country who was working her tail off 160 stops on a bus tour that I had lined through swing states, I didn’t — I was busy working. I was busy doing the connection and the voter registration. I can’t speak to that directly.
BROWN: So, you didn’t see signs of decline? So you didn’t see any…
WHITMER: I didn’t see the president frequently. And I can tell you, I can’t speak to that directly.
BROWN: Do you think Donald Trump would be president today if Biden had not run for reelection or dropped out earlier?
WHITMER: Maybe, maybe not. I don’t know. And I think that all of this is really — it’s frustrating, because there are such huge issues that we have to tackle right now. But it does make me question a lot of things that I thought I knew during the — over the course of the last year-and-a-half.
Hilariously, as Whitmer was claiming she wasn’t around Biden much, CNN began showing clips of her being around Biden quite a bit.

Here’s something else that often gets lost in the conversation: One didn’t need to “be around” or “be close” to Biden to see what was going on.
Millions of Americans who will never meet Joe Biden saw it and rightly called it out, including other Democrats during his 2020 presidential campaign.
But in 2024, well past the point that the denials were an insult to our intelligence, Biden’s critics were accused of being “MEGA MAGA extremists” by the press, the Biden White House, and the Biden-Harris campaign, all of who said the video clips of Biden looking lost, out of it, and needing his hand held were “cheap fakes” – up until the debate, after which they couldn’t credibly deny it anymore.
So even if it was true that Whitmer and Clyburn and all the rest weren’t around him much or close to him, that still doesn’t exonerate them from knowing what was very obvious to a majority of Americans.
Some of the same Democrats who say they didn’t know anything are likely going to be running for president in 2028. Vice President JD Vance should take note and never let them off the hook for this. This was and is a massive scandal, and the American people, too, should never forget the extensive four-year cover-up that an entire political party and their media allies engaged in in hopes of dragging Biden across the finish line one more time.
