Comer Unloads New Details on Clinton Depositions in Epstein Probe – RedState

As we reported, the House Oversight Committee has been trying to get Bill and Hillary Clinton to appear to ask what they know about Jeffrey Epstein.

They were subpoenaed back in August to appear for depositions in October. But they did not appear for those depositions, and there was apparently back and forth about their schedules.

Committee Chair, Republican Rep. James Comer (KY-1), clearly had lost patience with them when he spoke this week on the matter.

“So we expect the Clintons to come in, or I expect the Clintons to be met with the same fate that Bannon and [Peter] Navarro were met with when the Democrats were in control,” he concluded.

Steven Bannon and Peter Navarro were prosecuted.

Now there’s more news on the matter. Turns out that the Clintons’ lawyer was trying to get by with submitting a written statement on what “little” they knew. Comer made it clear that a written statement wasn’t going to fly in a letter to their attorney.

“Given the admission that your clients possess some relevant information, your position amounts to a demand that the Committee forgo in-person testimony, potentially relevant to its legislative oversight,” the powerful GOP chairman said.

“Additionally, your suggestion that your clients’ testimony would not be relevant to the stated purposes of the Committee’s investigation because the events in question took place outside of the Clintons’ respective official duties misses the Committee’s point,” Comer added. “It is precisely the fact President Clinton and Secretary Clinton each maintained relationships with Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell in their personal capacities as private citizens that is of interest to the Committee.”

Comer set new dates for the depositions on Dec. 17 for Bill Clinton and Dec. 18 for Hillary Clinton. He said further delays would “warrant contempt proceedings.”

Gee, why wouldn’t the Clintons have come in already to tell the “little” that they know? One has to wonder. So many questions they might ask them, particularly Bill, from asking about the island to if anything happened while he was on the plane. I definitely would break out the popcorn for Hillary’s appearance, you know that will be something. And make sure it’s all under oath.

The clock is ticking. Let the Bannon-Navarro rules that the Democrats employed apply now.
