‘Cruelty of Hamas Has No Boundaries’ – RedState

On Saturday, my colleague Bonchie brought us the news about Hamas’ latest act of egregious and visible cruelty, with the story of an emaciated Israeli hostage being forced to dig what his captors are claiming will be his own grave. The scene, shot deep in what appears to be a Hamas tunnel under Gaza, is horrifying, but for those of us who have been watching Hamas, it’s (sadly) not surprising.

Now, in a statement released Sunday, Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has responded to the latest Hamas atrocity.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to a disturbing new Hamas propaganda video showing 24-year-old Israeli hostage Evyatar David severely emaciated and digging what he said was his own grave.

“The cruelty of Hamas has no boundaries,” Netanyahu said in a statement. “While the State of Israel is allowing the entry of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza, the terrorists of Hamas are deliberately starving our hostages and document them in a cynical and evil manner.”

“The entire world must take a stand in a clear message against the criminal Nazi abuse perpetrated by the Hamas terror organization,” Netanyahu added.

Israel, at present, is in de facto control of a little over half of Gaza, but Hamas still has miles of hidden tunnels; their practice has been to shelter under and within hospitals, schools, and other civilian locations. And, protests from Israel and the West notwithstanding, it doesn’t look as though Hamas is going to be amenable to any deals.

Evyatar David’s family is also speaking out:

David’s brother, Ilay, spoke at a massive rally demanding a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Tel Aviv over the weekend.

“They are on the absolute brink of death. In their current, unimaginable condition, they may have only days left to live,” Ilay told the crowd in Hostages Square. “Hamas is using Evyatar in one of the most horrific and calculated campaigns of cruelty imaginable. A live hunger experiment. They are starving him deliberately, systematically, using his agonizing suffering as a twisted tool for depraved propaganda.”

That’s precisely what they are doing. The Hamas goblins are almost certainly producing these videos primarily for internal consumption, but there is likely also a “taunt Israel” factor to all this.

As far as the humanitarian aid for Gaza, we’ve seen reports and we’ve seen videos that much of that aid is being shortstopped by Hamas. Oh, they trot out photos of a poor child suffering from a genetic muscular disorder, using this unfortunate boy as a propaganda tool to claim Israel is starving kids. Still, these kinds of claims fall short when Hamas releases a video of their own, gloating over their cruelty to a Jewish captive.

The sad fact is that Gaza could be, should be, a wealthy and prosperous place. It could have been another Dubai; with miles of golden sand beaches on the warm waters of the Mediterranean, Gaza could have attracted ample foreign investment to establish itself as a tourist haven. Instead, it’s a terrorist-controlled hellscape, controlled by people capable of unspeakable cruelty. Mr. Netanyahu got it exactly right when he noted that the cruelty of Hamas knows no boundaries, and we should note as well that they will not desist in their present course until forced to do so.

Once again, we see that there will be no peace in Gaza until Hamas is no longer a factor.
