The Trump administration is striking a blow against pediatric genital mutilation through its proposed order barring hospitals that perform such surgeries from receiving Medicaid reimbursements. That means that for the duration of the administration, such procedures will cease.
Of course, the order can be reversed if a Democrat is elected president in 2028. I think the truly fatal blow to the pediatric mutilation industry is this:
A woman who received a double mastectomy at the age of 16 under the guise of transgender-related healthcare was just awarded $2 million in the first successful medical-malpractice lawsuit brought by a destransitioner.
Details at the link. There is no way an underage girl can give informed consent to irreversible gender mutilation surgery. In this case, of course, the consent was given by the girl’s mother:
Claire Deacon, Varian’s mother, was led by her daughter’s psychologist to believe that breast removal was the only way to heal Varian’s gender dysphoria, she told the jury. At first Deacon told Varian’s psychologist Kenneth Einhorn that top surgery was “never gonna happen” if she could help it.
The effects of gender-negating surgery are so ill-understood that I doubt that an adult can give informed consent, let alone a child. Dozens of lawsuits by people who were operated on as minors are now pending. I think jury verdicts are the one thing powerful enough to overcome the ideology that underlies the “trans” movement.
