On Tuesday, the Minnesota Star Tribune sponsored an event for wealthy liberals at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. It featured JB Pritzker, the Governor of Illinois, and our own Tim Walz. Walz is a lot like Pritzker, except for the billionaire part. Pritzker and Walz portrayed themselves as valiant resistance fighters:
Govs. Tim Walz and J.B. Pritzker told an audience in Minneapolis on Tuesday they believe their criticism of President Donald Trump could result in both of them being arrested by the federal government.
The Democratic governors of Minnesota and Illinois also said they fear the Trump administration will try to use military and National Guard troops to target “blue cities” in “blue states” during the run up to the 2026 midterm elections as a way to suppress Democratic voter turnout.
The National Guard has been deployed to protect ICE personnel and assets from violent attacks by members of the governors’ party. Will the presence of National Guard troops “suppress Democratic voter turnout”? Yes, to the extent that such turnout consists of illegal aliens.
Pritzker and Walz described Trump as a tyrant and “autocrat” during the 45-minute discussion they had with New York Times political reporter Lisa Lerer. …
Lerer spent much of her time focusing on the governors’ shared concern over the Trump administration’s use of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and deployment of the National Guard to quell violence in Portland and Chicago in recent days.
Of course she did.
“Do you both believe you sincerely could be arrested?” Lerer asked at one point.
“I am asking any of you to come visit me in the gulag in El Salvador,” Pritzker said.
Lerer laughed, and then Walz interjected.
“Yes. In all seriousness, yes,” Walz said, later adding it was not a question of whether Trump wanted to arrest him, but “how easy” it might be to do so.
Arrest him for what? Do these people not understand how crazy they sound?
For what it’s worth, I am pretty sure President Trump is happy to have Tim Walz on the loose, acting as a principal face of the Democratic Party.
Pritzker, who claimed he “is not a conspiracy theorist,” then said he believes Trump will ramp up the use of the military to target “blue cities in blue states” for a “much more nefarious reason that he is not stating,” aside from “being out of his mind and having dementia.”
Hey, it’s not a conspiracy theory: it is a sane, balanced assessment of how things stand. Joe Biden, in Pritzker’s book, was A-OK, but Donald Trump is “out of his mind and having dementia.” Right.
These people are living in a dream world, as are the Democrats who paid $300 to $500 for tickets to this event. In their fantasy land, hacks like Pritzker and Walz are heroes who may be unjustly arrested and hauled off to prison at any moment. In the real world, the Trump administration is trying to carry out the mandate it was given by voters to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, against the lawless, cynical, and politically-inspired resistance of contemptible politicos like JB Pritzker and Tim Walz.
