Did You Ever Think You’d Get Your Economic Updates From DoorDash? Well They’ve Got Some Big News – RedState

If you’re a fan of food delivery services – outfits like Grubhub and Uber Eats – then you’ve probably heard of DoorDash. You order online or with your phone from these companies, and voilà! You soon have your meal from your favorite restaurant delivered right to your door. They gained in popularity during COVID and continue to gain new fans for their convenience.

You wouldn’t necessarily think of them as being the experts we’d turn to for information about the economy, however – but then again, why not? They see what’s happening in the real world, and they have the numbers to evaluate the trends in at least their foodie lane.

And the numbers are good. On Monday, they delivered their first official report on economic trends:

Our first-ever State of Local Commerce report — built from hundreds of millions of real transactions across groceries, restaurants, and Main Street businesses — captures what’s actually happening in thousands of neighborhoods across America, rather than depending only on traditional surveys or samples released months later.

What they’re seeing, quite simply, is that things are getting better and the dog days of Bidenflation are ebbing further and further into the rearview mirror:

Prices for everyday essentials and breakfast staples are falling or flat, with DoorDash’s Breakfast Basics Index down 14% between March and September 2025.

Downtowns are seeing momentum return recovering with weekday lunch orders to business districts up in more than 50% of cities nationally, with Chandler, AZ and San Francisco, CA leading the rebound with increases more than 6 times the national rate.

That works for me.

That’s one sign of strength in local economies: consumers are stretching their dollars further, and Main Street is proving resilient.

The White House quickly took note of the report and posted a statement to their official website (emphasis theirs):

President Donald J. Trump’s bold economic agenda is delivering real results for American families — with new data from DoorDash’s State of Local Commerce report confirming that inflation has been tamed, everyday prices are beginning to drop, and wages are growing.

From breakfast tables to store shelves, President Trump’s agenda is lowering costs when families need it the most — fueling an economic comeback that is only just beginning as President Trump works to Make America Affordable Again.

Here’s White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt:

The ramifications and pain caused by the Schumer Shutdown are still not fully known, but this much we do know: the Democrats’ pointless theater of the absurd slowed an economy that had been booming under Trump. Hopefully, the intransigent leftists will get their act together this week and vote to finally end the darn thing – although they will have accomplished absolutely nothing with their juvenile antics – and we can get back to growing the Trump economy.

According to DoorDash, at least, the signs are looking good.

Editor’s Note: After more than 40 days of screwing Americans, a few Dems have finally caved. The Schumer Shutdown was never about principle—just inflicting pain for political points.
