DNC Chair Digs Even Deeper Hole Over Mamdani ‘Globalize the Intifada’ Controversy – RedState

Not that it’s exactly breaking news that Democrats lie every time they open their mouths, but the last few weeks must be some type of new record when it comes to how often they’ve taken to the mic to gaslight over things like the Los Angeles riots, the ICE immigration sweeps in California and other blue states, so-called Medicaid “cuts” in the OBBB, the deportations of hardened illegal immigrant criminals, and so much more.

The latest example comes from embattled DNC Chairman Ken Martin.

When last we left you, Martin landed himself in hot water after a PBS “interview” in which he was asked about Democrat New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani’s refusal to condemn the antisemitic “globalize the intifada” chant, something uttered often during the pro-Hamas rallies in the Big Apple that Mamdani has steadfastly defended.  Instead of criticizing Mamdani, Martin cheerfully suggested that the Democrat Party was a “big tent” and welcomed all kinds of people and views, including death chants with which he and others might merely disagree.

On Friday afternoon, after the comments went viral for all the wrong (for him) reasons, Martin took to X to declare that the “right-wing lie machine is at it again” for stating he refused to condemn the comments. Before we get to what he said in response to the criticism, here’s the video clip once again, just so people can see he was not taken out of context and did not expressly condemn anything:

In a reply to the tweet, here’s what Martin wrote:

The right-wing lie machine is at it again. That’s not what I said in this interview. I’ve never supported or condoned the phrase ‘globalize the intifada’, a phrase which is reckless and dangerous, as it can been seen as a green light to terror, and it should be unequivocally condemned. Let me be clear, at a time of rising antisemitism, there’s no place for rhetoric that can be seen as a call to violence.

“And it should be unequivocally condemned.” Then why didn’t he do so in the PBS interview instead of waiting to be shamed about it on social media before he took a supposed stand?

The fact is that he didn’t, and there was no “lie” in how the Free Beacon and others including my colleague Nick Arama characterized his statement, where he painted the “disagreement” over the “globalize the intifada” death call as something on par with a mere “disagreement” – much in the way others would disagree over which restaurant to eat at. Saying one “disagrees” is not an express condemnation of anything, much less a condemnation of a dangerous statement that translates into death to the Jewish people.

Further, there was no “lie” in the Free Beacon noting that Martin boasted about the Democrat Party allegedly being a “big tent” (LOL) party which welcomed views like the ones spouted by the pro-Hamas, antisemitic mobs he couldn’t bring himself to outright condemn on PBS. Here’s the “big tent” quote in question as a refresher:

And we win by bringing people into that coalition. And at the end of the day, for me, that’s the type of party we’re going to lead. We are a big tent party. Yes, it leads to dissent and debate, and there’s differences of opinions on a whole host of issues. But we should celebrate that as a party and recognize, at the end of the day, we’re better because of it.

Martin said Democrats were the “better” party because they brought a variety of people into the fold – including those who, like Mamdani, have consistently spouted pro-Hamas rhetoric, have joined the antisemitic BDS movement, and declined to distance themselves from calls for the elimination of the Jewish people.

In fact, the only “lie machine” in this entire debate is the Democrat Party and its so-called “leaders” like Martin, who have coddled antisemitic elements within their party like Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, to the extent that now even some Jewish members of the party (like Rep. Jerry Nadler) have stupidly endorsed politicos with similar mindsets – like Mamdani, and who yet turn around and lie and accuse members of the Trump administration and its allies of “antisemitism” by taking things they say and do out of context (or didn’t say/do at all).

And when asked about Mamdani, the best Martin could do was smile and boast about the supposed diversity of the Democrat Machine and how they were proud to open their doors and arms (and campaign coffers, no doubt) to people and candidates – including those who want Jews wiped off the map.

Absolutely sickening and pathetic. Calling this a terrible look just doesn’t do it justice, but that’s about all I’ve got right now.

Editor’s Note: Zohran Mamdani is an avowed Democratic Socialist and has a real chance to become the next mayor of New York City.
