Dodgers Future Hall of Famer Sends Defiant Biblical Message on Team’s Pride-Themed Hat – RedState

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw decided to add a little Biblical context to his team’s ridiculous pride-themed hats this past Friday.

You see, it was officially Pride Night at Dodger Stadium on June 13th when the rival San Francisco Giants rolled into town. As such, the team wore caps with the traditional LA logo, but instead of white, the letters were rainbow colored.

Kershaw opted to send a message. A perk you get when you’re a 10-time All-Star, three-time Cy Young Award winner, former league MVP, and two-time World Series champion. Oh, and not to mention, he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he decides to retire.

The man has a platform, he is a role model for the entire sport, and he felt it necessary enough to counter the Pride message with some divine context regarding the symbol of the rainbow.

Kershaw, who did not start or pitch during the game, was seen on video wearing his team-mandated Pride cap, but viewers caught a glimpse of a message embroidered on the side: Genesis 9:12-16.

Genesis 9:12-16 describes God establishing a covenant with Noah, his descendants, and every living creature after the great flood. God promises never again to destroy the earth with a flood. The sign of this covenant is the rainbow, which he sets in the clouds as a reminder of His everlasting promise.

Incidentally, Kershaw came out the next night as the Dodger starter and smoked the Frisco Giants, pitching seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five batters.

Now, Kershaw will no doubt respond to any complaints from the LGBT alphabet mafia and their friends in the media by remaining neutral, saying it was just a simple expression of his Christian faith, which he has the right to.

But he deserves more credit than that. By choosing a passage that defines the symbolism of the rainbow to Christians, he is essentially delivering a profound message to the entire Pride Night/Month concept. And good on him.

We need so much more of this counter-messaging to the Pride Month nonsense in sports. Why are sports franchises celebrating people’s sexual preferences during games? What in the seventh circle of Hell does “pride” in who people have sex with have to do with the game of baseball? Get this absolute nonsense off the diamond.

Kershaw is a devout Christian. He has openly discussed his faith throughout his career. He has lived it through his charitable work with his wife, Ellen, and their organization Kershaw’s Challenge, which is rooted in Christian values.

Clayton and Ellen also wrote the book “Arise: Live Out Your Faith and Dreams on Whatever Field You Find Yourself,” the proceeds of which raised money to build an orphanage in Zambia.

Seems like the Dodgers should be celebrating pride in their role-model star instead.

Kershaw, you may recall, also slammed a team decision to have the anti-Catholic drag queen group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI) honored on their Pride Night in 2023. The group openly mocks religion.

“I don’t agree with making fun of other people’s religions,” he said at the time. “It has nothing to do with anything other than that. I just don’t think that, no matter what religion you are, you should make fun of somebody else’s religion. So that’s something that I definitely don’t agree with.”

The Dodgers would ultimately try to placate Kershaw by hosting a “Christian Faith and Family Day.”

For those wondering, there is one team in MLB that does not host a designated Pride Night – the Texas Rangers. While they emphasize their commitment to inclusivity for all fans, they haven’t incorporated a specific celebratory night into their schedule like other teams.
