Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have met for the first time in six years in South Korea.
The two leaders shook hands when they met at an airbase in the southern port city of Busan.
Mr Xi said in Mandarin: “Great pleasure to see you again,” before the US President responded: “Good to see you again.”
Mr Trump added: “We’re going to have a very successful meeting, no doubt. But he’s a very tough negotiator, that’s not good. We know each other well.”
The two leaders are understood to be hoping to reach an agreement about a potential trade deal on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
They last met in person at the G20 summit in Osaka in 2019.
