A former aide to Donald Trump has claimed there is a “cover-up” going on in the White House regarding the President’s health.
Sarah Matthews, a White House deputy press secretary in Trump’s first term who resigned after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, alleged that the White House even lied about Trump’s health when he got Covid in 2020.
She said: “When I worked for Trump, I was working there during the time he got Covid.
“As deputy press secretary, one of my main duties was to inform the press about his condition. We were told by the most senior officials at the White House that Trump was only going to Walter Reed as a precaution…I believed it to be true.
“What I ended up finding out was that it was a lie. He was actually not doing well at all and was very sick.
“I know firsthand, working in the Trump White House, that he does not want the public to see him as weak. It seems there is sort of cover-up going on, and I’m sure he doesn’t want the truth about whatever health condition it is, whether it is something minor or much more serious, he doesn’t want that to come out.”
Speaking to the David Pakman show, Ms Matthews added: “The handshake thing is ridiculous…if he is so fragile that he gets bruises from shaking hands, that’s not good either.
“I think he is aware of it, and he’s very concerned about the public perception of his health, given all of the posts on Truth Social.
“What that tells me is something is going on….I think there is some sort of cover-up going on, for sure.”
Trump has consistently denied he has any health issues. Speculation has been rife due to bruising on his hands and concerns about his cognitive abilities.
The President recently underwent an MRI scan, which the White House said came back with normal results.
