Drivers face chaos after horror crash between two lorries causes massive diesel spill

Drivers are being warned of lengthy delays in Yorkshire this morning following a huge collision between two lorries.

The A1M in South Yorkshire remains closed southbound between Junction 36 (Doncaster) and Junction 35 (Rotherham).

National Highways reports a collision between two heavy goods vehicles, which caused a “substantial” spillage across the carriageway.

The diesel spillage is currently being cleared, with all traffic caught within the closure having been released via the hard shoulder.

Emergency services have since left the scene, although National Highways remains in attendance to deal with traffic management.

While one of the HGVs has left the scene, the other is in the process of being recovered.

Service providers are in attendance on the A1M to clean the spillage from the carriageway and reopen the road to traffic.
