C’mon man! From the Minneapolis Star Tribune,

Minnesota on the hook for $430K legal bill after GOP congressional hearing where Walz testified.

Anyone who watched or read about said hearing, knows that the money was completely wasted. He couldn’t define “What is a woman?” He doubled down on calling Trump a Hitler. In short, it was another in a long line of embarrassing episodes for our hapless governor on a national stage.

So how did it cost $430,000? The Star Tribune,

The state tapped the global law firm K&L Gates to prepare Walz for the June 12 congressional hearing, where he was questioned about whether Minnesota complies with federal immigration laws. On the day of the hearing, Minnesota’s budget agency sent a letter to a state legislative commission asking it to approve a $430,000 transfer from a general fund account to the governor’s office to pay for the legal services.

The “state” didn’t tap the law firm, Walz did. Taxpayers already support an Attorney General and his staff, the Governor’s office employs its own lawyers, not to mention the hundreds (thousands?) spread across state government, public universities, and taxpayer-funded nonprofits.

Walz himself is a six-term congressman and was facing questions from some of his former colleagues.

For his part, Walz blames congressional Republicans for forcing him to spend taxpayer money on useless, private advice. Compare and contrast one of Walz’ competitors for the 2028 Presidential nomination,

Others who testified before the House Oversight Committee took a similar approach. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, who appeared alongside Walz, retained a D.C. law firm to prepare, though the billionaire personally paid for the counsel.

What will it be tomorrow for Walz? Never surprised but always disappointed.
