EasyJet flight en route to Britain forced into emergency landing in France

An easyJet flight en route to Britain has been forced into an emergency landing in France.

The incident took place last Thursday, when flight EZY3356 departed at 11:30am local time from Alicante and was due to arrive into Liverpool John Lennon Airport three hours later.

Whilst traversing the Bay of Biscay along France’s Atlantic coastline, the crew declared an emergency situation involving a passenger requiring immediate medical attention.

The pilots diverted to Bordeaux Airport, touching down at 1:25pm local time to enable swift medical intervention, according to aviation news outlet AIRLIVE.

Following the medical intervention, the service resumed its journey to Liverpool.

An easyJet spokesman said: “Flight EZY3356 from Alicante to Liverpool on 28 November diverted to Bordeaux and requested an expedited landing due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.

“Our cabin crew provided first aid, and the flight was met by emergency services.

“The flight then continued to Liverpool.

“The wellbeing of our passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”

The airline has not disclosed further details about the passenger’s condition or the nature of the medical emergency.

This comes just a month after another easyJet flight was forced to make an emergency landing while en route to Manchester due to one passenger “requiring urgent medical attention”.

Flight EZY2238, which was travelling from Copenhagen, made an unscheduled landing at Newcastle Airport.

The aircraft departed the Danish capital at approximately 10pm local time on October 27 and had been scheduled to touch down at Manchester Airport at 10.45pm UK time.

Instead, the crew diverted to Newcastle after a passenger developed a condition requiring immediate medical assistance during the journey.

Medical personnel were waiting when the aircraft touched down at Newcastle, where they immediately took charge of the affected passenger.

Following the handover to emergency services, the flight resumed its journey to Manchester.
