The constellation of frauds committed by a large cast of almost exclusively Somali perpetrators has now caught the attention of President Trump and just about everyyone else thanks to the Thorpe/Rufo City Journal column “The Largest Funder of Al-Shabaab Is the Minnesota Taxpayer.” And just about everyone understands the immigration angle. It’s hard to miss. I’ve written about it in my own way several times on Power Line.
What about the political angle. It’s also hard to miss. We’ve also taken it up on Power Line. Republican state representative Walter Hudson addressed the political angle in this illuminating backgrounder on X that we posted at the time. It’s worth revisiting now.
Here’s the inside scoop on what’s happening with fraud in Minnesota.
It’s not complicated.
But it does appear to be covered up.
This level of fraud doesn’t happen by accident.@PamBondi … listening to this and taking it seriously will make your career. pic.twitter.com/DlK7XSdGmY

I have expressed my respect for the overworked prosecutors in the Office of the Unites States Attorney for the District of Minnesota who have worked on these cases over the past four years. I saluted them by name in the Washington Free Beacon column “From Feeding the Kids to Fleecing the Government: Inside the Country’s Largest COVID Fraud.” I wrote the column in part to express my respect.
United States Attorney Andrew Luger oversaw the the Feeding Our Future case from its inception through his departure. Interim Unites States Attorney Joe Thompson and current United States Attorney Daniel Rosen have continued the work along with a team of Assistant United States Attorneys.
Their work has turned up a constellation of frauds. The constellation continues to grow. It’s an expanding universe.
Mike Davis is the former chief counsel for nominations to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley. He is also the founder of the Article III Project. He is an influential character.
Yesterday on X Davis posted this comment on a NewsNation story following up on the Thorpe/Rufo column: “If only we had someone who could do something about this [fraud]. Paging Daniel Rosen.” He included Rosen’s contact information and photograph with the post.
Let me say this about that. It is an ignorant and stupid comment. The implication is that Rosen has somehow fallen down on the job. Rosen took office on October 9. I wrote about him in “The new sheriff in town.” I know the fraud cases remain a top priority of the office and that he has instructed his team to continue its aggressive prosecution of them. Davis really ought to shut up when he doesn’t know what he is talking about.
