Freedom Convoy leader Tamara Lich describes reading the Bible multiple times while in jail

(LifeSiteNews) – With a sentencing verdict only a few weeks away, Freedom Convoy co-leader Tamara Lich revealed that she read the Holy Bible “multiple times” while jailed for her role in the 2022 protests against COVID mandates.

On September 21, Lich posted on X her thoughts about her looming sentencing hearing, which could land her a lengthy jail term, noting how she faces jail because she believes in her “God-given” rights.

“I face prison in less than 3 weeks because I believe in our God given Rights and Freedoms,” Lich wrote.

“They expose themselves, not me,” she added in reference to the government, which wants her jailed for seven years.

In reply, X user @martycus wrote, “God did not give you freedom. Please read your Bible.”

Lich in reply wrote, “I did. Multiple times. In jail.”

Later in the day, Lich shared a Bible passage, Mark 3:24-27, which reads:

“And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

No man can enter a strong man’s house and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; then he will spoil his house.”

As reported by LifeSiteNews, Lich says she has put her “trust” in Jesus regarding the outcome of her trial sentencing verdict.

Lich was arrested on February 17, 2022, in Ottawa and spent weeks in jail. Her counterpart, Chris Barber, was arrested the same day.

As for Barber, LifeSiteNews reported earlier this week that he suggested he will need to obtain “security” for himself at his October 7 court date to keep him safe from “crazy obsessed” people attacking him online.

The sentencing trial for Lich and Barber took place in July at a hearing. Earlier this year, they were found guilty of mischief in their roles in the 2022 convoy.

As reported by LifeSiteNews, Lich revealed that the Canadian federal government is looking to put her in jail for no less than seven years and Barber for eight years.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled in their case for October 7 in Ottawa.

In early 2022, the Freedom Convoy saw thousands of Canadians from coast to coast come to Ottawa to demand an end to COVID mandates in all forms. Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government enacted the never-before-used Emergencies Act (EA) on February 14, 2022.

During the clear-out of protesters after the EA was put in place, one protester, an elderly lady, was trampled by a police horse, and one conservative female reporter was beaten by police and shot with a tear gas canister.

Trudeau revoked the EA on February 23.
