Students of ancient political history may recall that President Trump abruptly backtracked in 2019 and announced he would scrap plans to hold next year’s G-7 gathering of world leaders at the Trump National Doral in Miami. “Based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020,” he announced on Twitter late Saturday. “We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately.” Trump explained:
I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders. It is big, grand, on hundreds of acres, next to MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, has tremendous ballrooms & meeting rooms, and each delegation would have its own 50 to 70 unit building. Would set up better than other alternatives. I announced that I would be willing to do it at NO PROFIT or, if legally permissible, at ZERO COST to the USA. But, as usual, the Hostile Media & their Democrat Partners went CRAZY!
Analysis: True.
As I depart from the Trump National Doral in Miami this morning, I want to say this. Beautiful and spacious, it is a magnificent property. The friendly staff seem mostly to derive from foreign countries. They all wear name badges designating their country of origin. In every respect it is a privilege to be here.
While the Republican Party nominated Donald Trump as its 2016 presidential candidate in convention assembled July 18-21, 2016, I spent the week at the Trump National Doral. I was attending the the Pritikn Health Resort & Spa located on the property.
Assigned to the Phil Mickelson Villa of the Trump National Doral Miami, I found my room stocked with products from the Trump Hotel Collection: Trump shampoo, Trump conditioner, Trump body lotion, all “Made in Canada.” I wondered at the time if the Trump Hotel Collection would be safe from a Trump presidency. They have been replaced by an exclusive collection produced under the brand of Natura Bissé of Barcelona.
Incidentally, one set of Trump caps for sale in the gift shop is made in China. I’m thinking they may become a collector’s item.
In July 2016 I thought the prospect of a Trump presidency improbable. Nine years later, he is early in a historic nonconsecutive second term. One of the friendly staff here at the Trump National Doral snapped the photo of my wife and me with the interesting portrait of the presiding spirit that hangs in the lower level of what they call the Clubhouse. I am sharing it here in the spirit of Laughter Is the Best Medicine.
