It’s getting wild in California.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom should have called out the National Guard himself to deal with the riots now ongoing around the Los Angeles area. But he didn’t. And it’s getting crazy, with federal law enforcement assaulted, even cars set on fire as people wave foreign flags.
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin even shared video that someone took in one of the CBP vehicles that was attacked; a Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agent was injured in the melee.

So, now Border Czar Tom Homan says they are bringing in the Guard in response.

The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers. That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions. LA authorities are able to access law enforcement assistance at a moment’s notice. We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need. The Guard has been admirably serving LA throughout recovery. This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.
Newsom spoke about the Guard serving well during the fire recovery. However, dealing with civil unrest is also part of what they do. Deploying them will “erode public trust”? Not calling them out “erodes public trust.” Failure of California to properly deal with this and the local mayor, Karen Bass, acting as though the problem is ICE rather than people obstructing law enforcement. And no, the feds went two hours without a response as they were attacked at the federal detention center on Friday and right now, it looks like things are chaos in the streets. They’ve already shown their failure.
Bottom line? President Donald Trump is looking out for the lives of Americans including law enforcement. I get Newsom doesn’t care about that, and it’s shameful he didn’t do it himself. And not only has he failed California, he’s shown – again – he’s the wrong person for national office.
