Ghislaine Maxwell outrage as Epstein accuser’s family erupt over interview | UK | News

The family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent accusers, has condemned the release of a Justice Department interview with Ghislaine Maxwell, accusing officials of giving her a “platform to rewrite history” and disregarding the voices of survivors.

Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, was questioned in July by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. A 300-page transcript, published this week, shows her denying key allegations that have followed the Epstein case for years and rejecting several widely circulated conspiracy theories.

In the interview, Maxwell said she had never seen Donald Trump or former President Bill Clinton act inappropriately. “I actually never saw the president in any type of massage setting,” she told investigators. “The president was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects.”

She also disputed reports that Trump had marked Epstein’s 50th birthday with a note in 2003, saying: “I do not recall Trump sending Epstein a 50th birthday note.”

Maxwell was asked directly about the alleged “client list” of high-profile associates that has long been central to conspiracy theories. “There is no list,” she said.

The transcript also shows Maxwell responding to questions about Prince Andrew. She rejected Giuffre’s claim that she had arranged meetings between the Duke and Epstein. “First of all, let’s just state, I did not introduce him to Prince Andrew,” she said. Instead, she suggested: “I think Sarah [Ferguson] is the one that pushed that.”

She added that it was a “flat untruth” that she had been responsible for their connection and went further, calling allegations against the Duke of York “mind-blowingly not conceivable.”

When pressed on the infamous photograph showing Prince Andrew with his arm around Giuffre with Maxwell in the background, she said: “I believe it’s literally a fake photo. It’s literally a fake photo.”
