It is to be fervently hoped the crucial grooming gangs inquiry which finally had its team confirmed last week fares better after its appallingly bungled start. That survivors discovered the personnel involved from radio and TV news broadcasts was disgraceful. But consider this: it was also disclosed the inquiry is set to last three years. That will take it to within one “unavoidable delay” of not being concluded prior to the next general election – which is hugely convenient for a Labour government as virtually every council that failed these vulnerable girls was Labour-run.

Unconventional as their marriage undoubtedly was, the closeness of the love between Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne was laid bare last week as Sharon, 73, opened up about the circumstances of her husband’s death in July. Married for 43 years, their love endured all the booze and even bats and drugs the world-renowned hellraiser Ozzy, who was 76 when he died, put her through.

A number of pubs have opted to ban Labour MPs from their premises in protest against the iniquitous measures of last month’s budget that sees them more financially penalised than stores owned by global fashion brands and household names.
If this catches on, surely restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, supermarkets, petrol stations, clothes stores and many others should follow suit?

The Government is to commit £10.7 billion on a “Pathways” programme that will recruit an estimated 226 children to trial puberty blockers, with the youngest participants for biological boys being eleven, and for girls just 10.
Supporters cite scientific evidence and this is a desperately complex matter, but this is a decision that must be taken with the utmost care and reviewed continuously.
