Harvard Negotiates | Power Line

Harvard University has been negotiating with the Trump administration over various issues, including foreign students. How those negotiations are going varies depending on who is being quoted. As part of its effort to mollify the administration, Harvard reportedly is considering opening a conservative center on campus:

Harvard is considering creating a centre for conservative scholarship as it seeks to end its months-long dispute with Donald Trump.

America’s oldest university is said to have discussed the idea with potential donors, which could cost up to $1 billion, to “promote and support viewpoint diversity”…

Setting up a conservative centre would likely be interpreted as a concession to the president and Right-wing critics, who have long complained elite universities are liberal bastions with no political diversity.

The same article notes that in 2023, just three percent of Harvard’s faculty described themselves as conservative. So I’ve got a better idea: Harvard should get rid of its faculty, and hire a new faculty that is 97% conservative. Then set up a liberal center to promote viewpoint diversity.

Does that sound outlandish? Yes, it indicates how far many universities have degenerated. Then there is this:

Harvard struck a defiant stance earlier this year when it refused to change its hiring, admissions and other internal procedures following demands by the Trump administration….

It isn’t a question of “demands by the Trump administration.” The Supreme Court has specifically ruled that Harvard has for many years engaged in illegal race discrimination. Somehow, the university has failed to internalize this fact, and conventional media have relegated it to the memory hole. So if Harvard really does refuse to change its admissions and hiring practices, it is a scofflaw institution that deserves to be sued into oblivion. Of course, lawsuits against Harvard will likely face a phalanx of “resistance” judges who will make it as difficult as possible to obtain redress.
