(LifeSiteNews) — At a time when innocent children are being slaughtered mercilessly in the wombs of their mothers, and society promotes a eugenics mindset that discards the “imperfect” in favor of the “perfectly healthy,” we bring you a living testimony of courage, love, and the light of Christ.

Antonio “Tonio” de Mello, a Brazilian Catholic and adoptive father to 47 differently abled children, has poured out his life for those rejected and cast aside by the world. Since founding the Jesus Menino (Baby Jesus) Community in 1990, he has taken in children who were abandoned at birth, survivors of failed abortions, and those who might have been aborted if not for his intervention to help their mothers choose life.

LifeSiteNews readers have donated generously to Tonio’s community many times before, most recently helping to fix dormitories after torrential rains severely damaged living spaces of these young men. There is still much work to be done, however. Roofs leak, walls are unstable, and living conditions are still unsafe in certain sections of the building. In a recent video, Tonio explains the heartbreaking situation and the exact nature of the remaining repairs required:

The fundraiser is still $25,000 USD short of its goal. Without this support, these children, already so vulnerable, risk losing the safety and stability of their home. The repairs will ensure that they can continue to live with dignity, security, and they’re relying on LifeSiteNews readers and donors to make it possible.

De Mello is a living witness to the Gospel of Life. He was invited to speak at the 2024 March for Life in the U.S., where he shared his incredible testimony and vocation. In reference to abortion, De Mello said in an interview with LifeSiteNews, “To the nations that are trying to implement this procedure, just don’t do it, because your nations will become broken nations. A nation that promotes the death of innocent people or disabled people is not a developing nation, but a dead nation.”

He continued, “This is the message of the Catholic Community of the Child Jesus: it is to embrace life, to acknowledge life, to respect life throughout its development: from conception until natural death. Life, at the present time, must continue to be defended: always, always, always.”

Through your generous contribution to this LifeFunder, Tonio’s beautiful family can continue to thrive with a roof above their head as they serve as a counter witness to this culture of death. Give today and be a part of this miracle of love!
