Beachgoers face being stranded at one of Anglesey’s most popular coastal destinations today as parking restrictions coincide with a local funeral.
Natural Resources Wales has announced that car parks at Traeth Llanddwyn and Newborough Forest will be completely closed between 10am and 1pm.
Visitors already at the beach will be unable to leave during these hours to avoid disrupting the funeral procession in Newborough village.
A Natural Resources Wales spokesman said: “The car park gates will be closed, and vehicles will not be able to leave the site between these times to avoid any disruption to the funeral procession.”

The closure comes as the site continues its controversial traffic management trial, which includes parking charges of up to £15 per day.
The traffic management scheme was introduced in May to address severe congestion at the forest-backed beach, which forms part of a National Nature Reserve.
The site offers access to Ynys Llanddwyn, a tidal island known for its romantic appeal and views across to Snowdonia’s mountains.
Long queues of vehicles regularly block the narrow country lane leading to the beach, causing significant disruption to Newborough village residents.

Under the trial, NRW closes the car parks once full, typically before 11am on busy days.
Even when spaces become available, the gates remain shut until after 4.30pm.
The spokesman explained: “This is to ease traffic congestion and prevent cars parking in Newborough village waiting for spaces to become available.”
The new pricing structure will remain permanent after the trial ends, despite criticism from locals who have branded the charges “daylight robbery” online.

Free parking continues for Blue Badge holders and immediate area residents, with discounted season tickets available for other Anglesey residents.
NRW wardens are also tackling illegal camping in the 2,500-acre forest, where fly campers continue to pitch tents despite enforcement efforts.
Photos posted online show evidence of recent campfires and barbecues, raising fears of wildfire in dry conditions.
NRW stated: “We are also reminding visitors that there is now a full ban in place for all barbecues and fires following a rise in fire-related incidents, at the request of the local community, while overnight camping remains strictly prohibited onsite.”
Environmental incidents can be reported to NRW’s 24-hour hotline on 0300 065 3000.
