Three teenage girls have been arrested after a 14-year-old girl was brutally stabbedin a UK park. The victim was seriously hurt in the attack in Whittington, Worcester, which happened at around 7.40pm yesterday, Sunday, September 21.
The victims injuries are “not believed to be life-threatening”. Police raced to the scene after locals reportedly heard screaming coming from a popular local park. West Mercia Police said three teenagers were arrested at the scene in Whittington, Worcester, just off Heron End. The trio, all aged 14, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and currently remain in police custody.
Detective Inspector Sharon Wallace-Rathmell said: “I know this incident has shocked the local community, and I’d like to reassure you that we’re working hard to understand what happened.
She added: “There will continue to be a police presence in the area throughout the day while officers carry out enquiries.
“If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information which may help with our enquiries we’d ask you to please get in touch.”
A 29-year-old man told Worcester News: “It is quite shocking. You would not think anything would happen in such a quiet, friendly area.
“My partner heard screaming and a girl shout “get off me!”. I hope everybody involved is okay.”
Another local woman described the incident as petrifying. Images from the scene show a police cordon surrounding the park and multiple police vehicles.
