American conservative commentator Michael Knowles has backed US Vice President JD Vance’s assessment that Western nations are committing “civilisational suicide” through their immigration policies.
Speaking on GB News, the Daily Wire host endorsed Vance’s diagnosis, stating: “This is a problem that we, the United States are facing, you, the United Kingdom, is facing and it’s a problem continental Europe is facing. To deny it at this point is ridiculous.”
Knowles expressed bewilderment at opposition to Vance’s stance. “I don’t know how anyone could disagree with the Vice President’s prognosis that we are on the verge of ‘civilisational suicide’,” he said.
Vance had previously told Fox News that European nations were “unable” and “unwilling” to manage migration flows, singling out Germany for particular criticism.

Michael Knowles cannot see why people would disagree with the Vice President
The Daily Wire presenter highlighted the Trump administration’s achievements in border security, contradicting claims that new legislation was necessary to halt illegal crossings.
“Joe Biden said we needed new legislation to stop the crossings and it just wasn’t true. It can happen,” Knowles stated during his GB News appearance.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
When questioned about potential judicial interference with Trump’s immigration policies, Knowles acknowledged previous challenges but expressed confidence in recent developments. “It’s already happened and happily, our Supreme Court has finally put the kibosh on that,” he said.
He dismissed concerns about presidential overreach, noting that America’s highest court had curtailed lower courts’ ability to obstruct executive immigration enforcement. “Happily, our judiciary has actually reined in the judiciary and the president goes marching along. The administration is not afraid of the naysayers,” Knowles added.

Knowles confirmed that the United States would curtail legal immigration alongside its crackdown on illegal border crossings.
When asked directly about reducing legal migration, he responded: “Yes, not because of antipathy but we’ve simply taken too many.”
He characterised the scale of immigration as historically unprecedented. “The movement of people into the United States legally and illegally over the last 60 years is the largest recorded ever,” Knowles explained.
The commentator argued that immigration restrictions were essential for maintaining a welcoming society. “You can only have a country welcoming to migrants if you have a country,” he stated.
His remarks came as President Trump completed a five-day visit to Scotland, where he advised Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to prioritise immigration control to counter Reform UK’s electoral threat.
Knowles struck an optimistic note about reversing current immigration trends, despite acknowledging the severity of the situation.
“The good news is, there is a way out. There is a way to turn the momentum around and the Trump administration has shown that,” he told GB News viewers.
He emphasised that the American experience demonstrated how quickly immigration policies could be transformed. “We inherited a disastrous immigration system and we have turned off the crossings at the border,” Knowles said.
The commentator expressed confidence in British public sentiment regarding immigration control. “There is no lack of appetite among regular Brits to take their country back,” he stated.
However, he stressed that success required specific qualities from political leadership. “We can do it but we need clarity and courage,” Knowles concluded.
