For one who began life in a Kenyan refugee camp, Ilhan Omar has done very well. Not only is she a darling of the Left, she is now–suddenly–wealthy. In the space of a year or two, she has gone from having virtually no net worth to having a $30 million fortune. Nice work if you can get it. We wrote about Omar’s sudden wealth here and here. Omar’s financial rise is now prompting investigations:

Republicans want to know how Somali-born Omar (D-Minn.) and her politically-connected husband Tim Mynett went from nearly broke to being worth up to $30 million in just a year, according to her 2024 disclosure forms.
Concerns about the financial dealings of Omar and Mynett are apparently not new:
The comments came as The Post learned the FBI was briefed during the Biden administration on suspicions about an array of companies run by Omar’s hubby.
Suspicions arise, in part, because Mynett does not seem to own any businesses that have been successful or that could possibly account for so much sudden wealth.
One obvious question, of course, is whether some of the $10 billion or more believed to have been stolen from taxpayers in Minnesota found its way into the pockets of Omar and her husband. There is no doubt that she was connected to Feeding Our Future fraudsters in multiple ways. So far, we have no information as to how she may have related to the other, even larger, frauds that are now coming to light.
It is important to note that to date, there is zero evidence of any politicians sharing in the Feeding Our Future largesse, or any of the other frauds. Still, there are obvious reasons why Omar, in particular, could have been paid off. Among other things, she authored and promoted the legislation that enabled the free food program from which something like $500 million was stolen.
When a politician gets rich overnight, you have to wonder.
