In the year 2026, I wonder what Messrs. Zager and Evans would have to say. “We’re all going to pick up sticks”? Or maybe, “Happy new year.”
Denny Zager, in case you are wondering, is still alive. He’s reportedly running Zager Guitars in Lincoln, Nebraska and celebrating the business’s 56th anniversary. Rick Evans died in 2018.
Best wishes to all our readers for a happy, healthy new year. I quit making new year’s predictions a while back. I don’t think I ever got a single one right. I was struck by Mark Penn’s predictions for 2026. I would say he’s an optimistic guy. I have always erred on the side of pessimism and hoped to be pleasantly surprised.
