From Bill Melugin of Fox News,
LA Mayor Bass claimed today, without evidence, that ICE came to ERs and homeless shelters in LA today. ICE says that’s a lie and responds below.
Melugin quotes the official ICE Twitter (X) account,
FACT CHECK MAYOR BASS:
ICE and its federal partners were NOT in homeless shelters, ERs and schools. Your lies are fueling the violent riots in your city. Shameful.
John discussed today the bizarre spectacle of a sitting U.S. Senator charging towards a cabinet secretary at a press conference and, somehow, the Senator is claiming police brutality.
Civil War 2.0 is being fought in the streets and in social media. Truth, as always, is the first casualty.
Here in Minnesota, we were witness to the sad sight of the state’s largest newspaper having to confess that, maybe kinda sorta, they were guilty of inciting another anti-government riot in Minneapolis on June 3. From today’s Star Tribune,
How misinformation amplified chaos during federal operation on Lake Street:
The federal law enforcement operation that netted 900 pounds of methamphetamine was initially described as an immigration raid on social media and by the Star Tribune.
The figure of 900 pounds is not a typo.
What role did the Star Tribune play? To find out, you have to skip down to paragraph 25 of the story (not) kidding, where the paper finally fesses up,
A push notification and email were sent to hundreds of thousands of Minnesota Star Tribune breaking news alert subscribers under the headline “ICE agents surrounding south Minneapolis restaurant” at 1:04 p.m.
In truth, handful of ICE agents were there in support of the FBI, and host of other 3-letter agencies, who conducted a drugs/guns/money laundering/human trafficking raid backed by a c0urt-ordered search warrant. Illegal immigration was the one thing not on the menu that afternoon.
But why pass up a chance for a riot when you can blame Trump?
